    The Five Title Levels

Dogs progress through five distinct title levels, with each level increasing in difficulty.

    • Novice Trick Dog (TKN): The dog must perform 10 tricks from a list of standard behaviors. If your dog already has a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title, it counts as 5 tricks, so you only need to show 5 more.
    • Intermediate Trick Dog (TKI): The dog must perform 10 intermediate tricks. The Novice title is a prerequisite.
    • Advanced Trick Dog (TKA): The dog must perform 10 advanced tricks from the list. The Intermediate title is a prerequisite.
    • Trick Dog Performer (TKP): The handler designs a short, scripted routine or story using 10 tricks previously learned. At least 3 tricks must use props.
    • Trick Dog Elite Performer (TKE): The highest level, requiring a themed routine with 10 tricks, a story, and at least 5 props.

    Examples of Approved Tricks

Each level has a structured checklist of options, allowing you to choose tricks that best fit your dog's physical abilities and personality.

Title Level & Sample Tricks on the Approved List

    • Novice: Shake hands, spin in a circle, crawl, high-five, speak, sit in a box, fetch a toy.
    • Intermediate: Open a door, ring a bell to go out, wave goodbye, roll over, carry a basket.
    • Advanced: Play a toy piano, take a tissue when you sneeze, bow, back up, cover eyes ("shame").
